What made THG want to start its own foundation?
THG is a company that cares and enjoys spending time together – whether it be helping an employee or employee’s family when in need or answering the call for help from an industry partner to serve in their efforts. Our people have always had big hearts!! After serving together many times, our company knew we are better when we serve together. Knowing we can make an impact, fueled us to focus on that mission, and THGives was born.

What was our first ever event?
THGives has been growing since 2015, but our first full Hansen event began with food, of course! We hosted a large event, where there was a generous amount of pre-packaged snacks leftover – juice boxes, applesauce, raisins, and other snacks. A group of THG employees immediately came up with the idea to create snack bags for students in need. With only a few calls made, we found an organization that would deliver these bags to students in an after-school care program. By end of our service project, we packaged over 200 “security bags” and were all present when the Fannie Battle Day Home organization arrived to pick up the bags. We loaded them quickly so they could get them to students in food insecure communities in time. Everyone involved benefitted from this experience, but especially the students who needed the extra food. This event ignited our team with the want to do more.
How did THGives form and grow?
The “Security Bags” Nashville event (mentioned above) opened the door for our team to begin serving on a regular basis. THGives actively seeks out organizations that need extra help to complete their food-related projects. Our efforts all come back to feeding, in some way. Today, our THGives committee meets monthly to coordinate events for us to give back and serve our local committees between Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Florida panhandle. We are proud to stand tall and stand together in our service!

What is THGives doing now?
Our 2022 goal is to complete at least one service project every month. No matter the size, we are dedicated to serving alongside each other. You have probably seen us in action on our social media channels for First Responder Appreciation Day in February, The Sandwich Project in March, Be My Eyes/Virtual Service in April, and partnering with Inspire Brands Foundation for their golf tournament cookout. With great events like these, we can officially kick off the THGives blog! Thank you for reading and joining in our story as we continue to serve. A full post about June’s Summer Meal Program is coming soon…. stay tuned! ✌️
